ABOUT ANYA RUBINBorn in St. Petersburg in 1967, Anya Rubin is, at her core, Russian. Her earliest years were spent in that country’s sweeping beauty and culture. Her first memories are of an extended family of artists and musicians steeped in Russian tradition. Anya Rubin is an emotionally charged artist. Her vibrant colors portray the intense energy of our modern existence. Anya uses layers of translucent colors to achieve depth and space. Her brush stroke is fast and frenzied mimicking the texture and flow of life energy. Rubin’s work is thought provoking searching for balance between conscious and sublime universal messages. Though largely self-taught and usually working straight from emotion, Anya is a disciplined artist who understands that art is as much work as it is passion. Her art is, after all, her salvation, her way of communicating with the world, making sense of the universe and ultimately her painting has become her faith. “My works,” she says “are my questions. Sometimes my answers...” That work, that faith, has been recognized. A student of the Art Student League of New York, Anya has exhibited in New York and New Jersey, at the Adre Zarre Gallery in Manhattan and most recently at the Waltuch Gallery in NJ where she had a one woman show titled “A Woman’s Perspective”. Anya is currently represented by prestigious Agora Gallery in New York. Anya lives in Tenafly, NJ with her husband Edward Rubin and her triplets Raquelle, Alec, and Max. |
